Lighthouse Dance plans for the upcoming month…

Dear Lighthouse Family,

First we want to thank you for your support, encouragement, prayers, patience, and flexibility in transitioning to online classes during the pandemic.

We've been praying for all of you, and we are so sorry to hear of those who have been negatively impacted during this crisis. We will continue to take prayer requests, and are praying and dancing for breakthrough on Wednesday evenings.

We've received great feedback, pictures, testimonials, and success stories of your experiences dancing at home. We're also aware that it's been challenging on multiple levels: finding the space to dance, keeping the younger children engaged, and overcoming technical hurdles.

It's been a challenging time for our business as well. There has been much to learn, and each day brings new obstacles to overcome. We're so proud of our staff who have worked extra hard as they gain new skills and pour their energy and enthusiasm into live streaming classes.

So again, THANK YOU for sticking with us through this time. Our reward is seeing the students keep dancing and remaining connected to a Christ-centered dance community where they are loved.

As the Colorado stay-at-home order ends today, we want to give you an update of what to expect in the upcoming weeks for Lighthouse Dance.

We were sincerely hoping to be back in the studio in May… for so many reasons! However, based on the new guidelines, we're going to have to continue online classes for now.

We've watched and re-watched the press conferences in which our governor lays out the new "Safer at Home" initiative. It is very clear that Colorado residents are instructed to stay home as much as possible, and gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited at this time.

The timeline for the phases of Colorado's reopening is variable and unknown at this time. If gyms and recreation centers such as Loveland's Chilson center were to re-open during May, it is possible that we could get back to classes in the studio, but that seems unlikely and we're not counting on it.

So here's the current plan for classes and the recital…

Online classes will continue for the month of May. Classes will continue to be live streamed, with access to the recordings any time.

Our original dance season schedule was for classes to go to the end of May, and we are going to KEEP that schedule. The season will end at the end of May.

The title of the recital show is VISION.

We will have a different kind of recital this year. All school district buildings are closed, so we cannot rent Thompson Valley high school as originally planned. Additionally, we cannot (nor would we attempt to) put hundreds of people into an auditorium any time in the near future.

The recital will be held by one class at a time (or a couple classes in the case of some collaborations). Since classes have not been able to meet in person, they will have the chance to run through their dance together a few times before their performance which will be captured on video. Students will be in costume, and we intend to make it as special as possible. All of the videos will then be edited into one cohesive show.

We are currently working on the dates and location of these mini-recitals, and are aiming for it to coincide with the end of the season as closely as possible. We anticipate announcing the official plan on or before May 15th.

At the same time (on or before May 15th) we will announce the costume distribution dates. This will occur at Lighthouse and will be either curbside pick-up, or in the lobby.

We're asking that you stick with us for the month of May, and there are a few incentives for you to do so, in addition to your student continuing their dance education.

By staying through May…

1) Your student gets to participate in their class recital.
2) You will have NO ticket fees for the recital.
3) You will receive access to the full combined recital video at no extra cost.

We've been working on VISION for the past year, and we believe that God is going to use it in unexpected ways.

Sometime before the end of May, we will announce summer plans. We'll have some sort of summer program or camps available. Lord willing, we'll be back in Lighthouse for the start of the Fall dance season.

Thank you once again for your continued support! If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out to us!

Blessings in Christ,

Eric & Melissa Holmlund
