HEARTBEAT is an exciting and innovative dance production, unlike any we have done before.
This show was inspired by a twelve-part visual art series titled “Healing of the Heart”, by artist Meagan Tarka, who was previously a dancer and teacher at Lighthouse Dance. Each piece was created in a different medium and portrays an emotional state through the healing process – from past trauma until fully transformed.
We drew inspiration from those twelve pieces to create an immersive artistic journey of the heart as it moves through trauma into healing. Lighthouse Dance collaborated with music artists who composed and recorded original music for each of the twelve “chapters” of this story. Each musical piece was then partnered with talented choreographers, and dancers who will portray this transformational journey on stage.
The event will also include access to a showing of Meagan’s artwork, with a meet-and-greet where you can meet Meagan, music composers, and choreographers.
We believe the audience will receive hope, healing, and inspiration as they partake in this journey with us. Parts of this show may evoke strong emotions or memories. If we had to give it a movie rating, it might be PG (parental guidance advised) due to the intense nature of some of the music and choreography.
